Safety Comes First
Before setting off on the water, your guide will give you a briefing that will ensure you are familiar with all the safety instructions. After outlining the typical animal behaviour to look out for and how to handle any dangerous situations, you will be given a life vest and guidance on how to paddle before setting off with your guide into the untamed waters of Mana Pools.

What to wear on the water
With paddling comes splashing so make sure to dress in appropriate clothing that you don't mind getting wet. Make sure to take along a brimmed hat and plenty of sunscreen and your trusty binoculars for spotting the wildlife.
The best time for canoeing
Between May and November, when Mana River Camp and Ingwe Pan Camp are open, is considered the best time for this exhilarating adventure. During these months, the weather is ideal, and the water levels are perfect for navigating the river's tranquil channels and rapids.
