We’re Excited to Announce the Opening of Monachira Camp
Discover our newest treasure in the Okavango Delta. Situated on the edge of the Monachira channel in the northeast region of the Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango Delta, Monachira Camp opens in May 2025.
Offering motor boating excursions on the Monachira River system, relaxing mokoro experiences, island nature walks & short game drives, at Monachira Camp, you will become immersed in the tranquillity of the bush. This luxury safari camp boasts exceptional wildlife viewing over the large reed and papyrus-lined floodplains, seasonal wetlands, and large riverine islands and is not far from the famous Gudigwa Heronries, an amazing nesting ground for thousands of herons, egrets and storks.
Explore the permanent channels of the Monachria River and keep your eyes out for elephants, lions and leopards. Discover more about the rare sitatunga, a semi-aquatic antelope and keep your eyes and ears out for the call of the elusive Pel’s Fishing owl.
Only accessible by helicopter, discover this remote section of the Okavango when you stay at Monachira Camp.

Book your stay at Monachira Camp in conjunction with any other Machaba Safari’s Delta camps and receive a complimentary helicopter flight.
